Hannah Russell

Neighborhood Coordinator, Columbia Heights

Hannah is from Cary, North Carolina and moved to the DC area in 2021. She studied economics at Cornell University, where she embraced the gorgeous gorges, homey farmer’s markets, and supporting small businesses. She also did a semester abroad in Santiago, Chile, where she hiked the Patagonia, learned the Chilean “dialect” of Spanish, and lived immersed in the local culture. Her heart grew for Latin American people and culture.

After graduating Cornell, she moved to Boston. She worked as a finance analyst for Partners in Health, a global healthcare non-profit. She established strong relationships with the site team in Peru, and put her Excel nerd skills to good use. A few years later, Hannah moved to DC and is excited to be part of District Bridges, where she can bring her heart for the local community and event planning. She envisions a Columbia Heights where people feel that they belong and take ownership of their community. Hannah loves salsa dancing, Cantonese food, making meaningful connections with people, colorful patterns, and meaningful books.
