She spent several years working in arts administration at Washington Performing Arts Society and The Kennedy Center while also volunteering at Community of Hope’s (COH) Columbia Heights transitional housing program for families experiencing homelessness. In 2002 she transitioned to working full time at COH as Volunteer Manager. She left COH to have a son and enrolled in the MSW program at The Catholic University of America (CUA). When her son entered Alice Deal Middle School, she focused on her own neighborhood and volunteered with Uptown Main Street while also serving as a contributing writer for Petworth News, with a focus on Kennedy Street NW and Manor Park. Recently she was Co-Vice President of Fundraising for the Alice Deal Community Association and with her partner, raised over $200,000 for the school during the pandemic.
