Amanda Monaco

Amanda is from Gainesville, Florida, and attended the University of Florida, where she got her B.A. in Political Science and also studied Latin American Studies, Sustainability Studies and Anthropology. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where she studied human rights, environmental, corporate and trade law. With a background in environmental justice policy advocacy, Amanda is excited to bring her skills of project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement to support vibrant local business and communities in Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant. Previously, she was an ally for communities fighting environmental injustices in Latin America with several nonprofits based in D.C. and Mexico City, and worked with farmworker communities in California’s Central Valley to advocate for sustainable and equitable groundwater management. She is fluent in Spanish.
