About A Civic Plaza For All

Under a grant from NACTO and in collaboration with DDOT, our Columbia Heights Main Street program is launching a 5 month pilot program to reactivate the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza for the entire community to enjoy!

We are bringing resources for our neighbors who are unhoused or experiencing substance use disorder, implementing a new outdoor dining area, providing free community outdoor fitness classes and activities, hosting bicycle maintenance pop-ups, installing a bike maintenance station, and organizing monthly cultural events.

Check out the calendar below for a full schedule of events!

Important Announcement – August 26, 2021:

We’re hitting pause briefly! The situation at the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza is extremely challenging. Over the last month through our pilot, we’ve learned a tremendous amount and better understand the support and resources we need to make Columbia Heights Civic Plaza, truly “A Civic Plaza for All.”

So we are hitting pause on our programming for the next two weeks to recalibrate and coordinate the multiple stakeholders both public and private to more holistically address the needs we’ve identified.
